Tuesday Review Day: Double the Beauty

Today's another Tuesday review day and I just couldn't pick between two products so this blog post is going to have a beauty double dose!

If you missed last weeks review don't worry you can find it here.

The products I want to talk about today both came in my February Birchbox. At first I wasn't too sure about the box, I hadn't received all the items I'd hoped for but in true blogging form I wasn't going to be put of until I'd tried and tested all the products.
Turns out I'm really chuffed with it. My favourite products in the box this month were:

Gilchrist & Soames - The London Collection Shower Gel | £13.75
Leighton Denny Nail Colour | £11
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner | £12

I absolutely loved the Shower Gel, it had a really soft foam which felt amazing on the skin and smells so good! (I've gone and bought a full size bottle already!)

But, the Leighton Denny nail varnish and Eyeko eyeliner were hands down my favourite products.

To start off I just love the look of the bottle, for some reason the glass lid just does it for me, but of course more importantly I loved this colour too. I've bought similar shades in the past, but coming into spring this was a perfect addition to the collection. This dirty cotton pink has a very elegant and natural look and worked perfectly with my pale olive skin colour.
I was so pleased that it lasted chip free for several days too, which is amazing for me as I'm quite a hands on person and seem to chip nail varnish within hours of putting it on. I'm on day three today and so far so good!

Application was easy too. I think this varnish would be fine with just one coat as it has a very opaque colour, but it also tries so quickly I was able to do two coats in a matter of minutes.

At £11 a bottle it's not the cheapest nail varnish on the shelves but I'm so pleased with it I think it's well worth the money I can't wait to check out the rest of the range.

If you've tried any of the other colours or top coats (I know there's some amazing glitter coats) let me know what you think in the comments below.

The second of my favourites was the Eyeko Skinny Liquid eyeliner. At first I was skeptical about this one because I wasn't to keen on the applicator but it won me over from the first use. Claimed to be a beauty essential by Alexa Ching, the eyeko eyeliner was really easy to apply and great for those classic flicks that have been so in fashion this season.

The felt pen like applicator was actually so easy to use and made for controlled and quick application without any worry about smudging or wonky lines. Some applicators are so runny and flexible it's difficult to make a perfectly straight line but I had no problems at all with this one.

I've only made small flicks in this post, but it was so quick and easy to do I have no worries about making bigger ones or experimenting with other styles.
After wearing this all day it hasn't budged an inch either, and I'm confident I could happily wear this straight from day into night without checking in a mirror.

I'm so pleased with this eyeliner I think it's going to become my new go to liner for a more dramatic look.

I've only been subscribed to Birchbox for three months but I've been really pleased so far. At £10 a month it actually works out quite well most months (the eyeko eyeline alone is worth £12!) and I've already discovered so many amazing products! If you're thinking about subscribing too I'd really recommend it if you're looking to venture outside your comfort zone and try out some new high end products. I'll leave a link here for you to find out more information.

I hope you liked this post and thanks for visiting.

Bye for now!

  2. Thanks for sharing! The nail polish is fabulous. I've never tried that brand and it's not cheap, but it looks gorgeous.

    1. Thanks Jasmine. I don't think I would have bought it if it wasn't in the Birchbox, but I really love it now so if I found it again I think I'd splash out x
