Well as you read this I am most likely to be up in the air on my way to the Czech Republic!

But as I write this, it's about 8pm, I've just got out the shower and yes I might have been prancing around in my t-shirt for a while but now I'm sitting on my hotel bed, sipping hot chocolate with newly painted nails, listening to 'I want you back' cover by The Civil Wars (one of my favourite songs at the moment) and sorting out some notes from my lyric hook book.

I can see the sun setting out the window, and well it's all quite nice really!

I have quite a bit of 'homework' to do before I set off tomorrow but I'm going to enjoy the moment while it's here and thought I'd hop online and give you an update on my current antics!

Midday tomorrow I'm taking a leisurely stroll to Manchester International Airport where I'll be meeting up with nine other strangers from across the UK to head off on a week long grad school in Pardubice. I hear the competition was quite fierce so I feel very lucky to have earned a place on the course, and although I know it's going to be intense I'm really looking forward to it.

It's always great to meet knew people, and there will also be graduates from across Europe joining us so it's all very exciting! Most of all I can't wait to see the Czech Republic.
Although I consider myself a lover of travelling I've not really travelled all too far. The Czech Republic will be a new one to tick off the list! From the little research I've done it appears to be full of old town character, cobbled streets and authentic traditional architecture which is a big love of mine.

Our co-ordinator tells me we're staying in a Volcanic Spring Spa which sounds amazing. I don't know what time we will have to use the facilities, but I'm going to try my absolute hardest to squeeze something in!

I never know quite what to do in hotels I'm not used to lacking all the comforts of my own home for distractions! So for now I think I might take an amble around the hotel to see what it has to offer and then cosy myself up in my pyjamas for a good nights rest before tomorrow's trip.

I have quite a few hotel visits booked in for this year so if you have an tips or ideas for passing the time in the hotel I'd love to hear your suggestions and hopefully I can give a few a try on my next trip.

Until my next update, stay happy, stay healthy and wish me good luck!

Bye for now!
What to wear??

Hello there!

So yesterday I was informed that on the final night of my study trip abroad we are going to have a gala dinner! How very fancy! I was then told that we are not to worry about smart wear for the gala, that they are expecting us to wear out 'nice' casual wear...

Well that had me puzzled. I mean as far as I'm concerned all my casual wear is 'nice' but is it gala nice? What kind of clothes do you wear on a professional holiday that are professional but still casual?

I'd never before thought about the difference categories of casual wear so I had to experiment and I've come up with a few outfits that I think fit the 'nice' casual category.

I was going to put a selection here but I've forgotten my camera cable! Can't believe it!

I'm going to have to just leave you with one until I can update this post.

The organza dress is from Waregouse, the Rose gold watch is ASOS & so are the black cotton tights.

I've brought flats, thick strap sandals, and a simple black heel too so I have options for day or night.

So conclusions? Did I meet the 'nice' casual criteria?

It's almost time to go now, next time you hear from me I'll either be in the air or on the continent!

Until then, stay happy, stay healthy & thanks for stopping by!
Hi there!

This week I've been working from home a lot so lucky me has been filling my breaks with home baked sweets and treats.

This has to be one of the easiest sweets you could ever make, but they're so moreish you're going to want to make them over and over again.

Peanut butter cups!

The best thing about this recipe is you won't need an oven!

All you need to do is melt your chocolate in a bowl over some water & make a layer of chocolate in 10 cupcake cases. Pop that in the freezer for 15 minutes and while it's there mix up a bowl of peanut butter, icing sugar and butter until smooth.

I always have a play around with the measurements but if you're looking for something simple I'd say 1/2 table spoon of butter, 1 table spoon of peanut butter & 1 table spoon of sugar should be about right.

Take your chocolates out of the freezer add a layer of your peanut butter mix, knock on a surface to even and pop them back in the freezer for another 15 minutes and finally add your top layer of chocolate freeze one last time and voila! - peanut butter cups!

They don't need to look perfect because they're not going to be on display for long. You might noticed there aren't ten on the plate anymore? Well between putting them out and taking photos...oooh say 30 seconds, I couldn't wait so a few might have been eaten already - oops!

I can easily get through ten on my own so you might want to make more!

Enjoy & bye for now xx

This week has been so so busy!

There's been events, fundraising & too much planning!

The week started off with a Conference event by my research funders. I know I know, sounds boring right? But actually it was a lot of fun. It was a suit and tie event, so an excuse to dress up, and it was a really great opportunity to meet loads of new people from across Wales. The whole event was paid for so we all got beautiful dinner and wine. I wasn't able to take photos inside the venue but it was such a lovely event I feel so happy to have been invited.

I also had a lot of work and meetings to tie up the loose ends on my mPhil. I won't bore you with the details but all I'll say is it's been a tough 18 months and it feels so good to be this close to the finish line now! Graduation in July!!! yaaaay.

The biggest event of this week was Friday's fundraising event HATS for Headway. All this week has been Action for Brain Injury week 2014. It's a cause I'm very passionate about and as a committee member for Headway Ceredigion this week has been chockablock with planning and final preparations for this event.

Headway Ceredigion is a local charity providing support for brain injury survivors and their family carers. We've only been around for 6 months so this event was our first and so important! We stormed the streets of Aberystwyth town and spent the day raising funds and awareness. The day was such a success and I'm so proud of the whole team and everyone who volunteered. We met some amazing people, and heard some truly moving life stories.

I've also been busy preparing for Pardubice. I'm going to Czech Republic for a whole week and I'm so excited! I haven't been abroad for such a long time I cannot cannot wait to go!

Oh also, I don't know what the weather's like with you but it's so amazing here! It's been absolutely freezing lately, but then suddenly out of no where the sun has arrived and it's stunning out there! While I've got the chance this weekend I'm really hoping to catch some rays and if it gets too hot I'm going to get some baking in too because it's been too long! So I'm off while it's still shining.

I hope you're having a great week & thanks for stopping by!

I haven't done a review or haul in a while so I thought I'd give you a sneaky look inside my Birchbox this month!

This month Birchbox teamed up with Harper's Bazaar magazine to create this beautiful box and equally beautiful product selection.

I've had some ups and downs with Birchbox but this month not only did my box arrive early but I'm super happy with all the products too! So let's get down to it, here's what I got:

Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Mascara | £19.50

Soigné Nail Lacque | £11

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil | £39

Beauty Protector Protect & Shampoo | Protect & Conditioner |£14 each

Liz Earle Beauty Co. Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser | From £13.25

I'm in love with my box this month and couldn't be happier, I'm a big fan of benefit and love the Aromatherapy Associate oils. I also really love the Beauty Protector hair serum which I got in an earlier box and bought as soon as I could so I'm really excited to try new products in the range.

Can we also just take a moment to admire the beautiful Soigné packaging! I don't think I've ever owner a nail varnish that came in such a beautiful box!

But of all the products this month I cannot wait to try the Liz Earle Hot cloth cleanser. I've heard so many good things about this product and it's had raves reviews. The sample is also a really generous size so I can't wait to test it out and give you might thoughts! If you've ever tried the Liz Earle Hot Cloth cleanser let me know what you thought

I'm also thinking of doing a complete Birchbox review covering everything from singing up, to product selection, postal services and value for money, so if you're interested let me know in the comments below or send me a message on twitter @theasthinkings and ask me any questions you'd like to be covered so I can include them all in the review.

I think that's all for now so that's for stopping by!

Bye for now!
Hi there!

If you read my blog you might notice that I've been a little absent of late, and if not phew & hello!

It might seem odd but I can usually notice the quality of my life based on how many baths I'm taking! Panic not, I'm still clean as a whistle! But I've noticed that when things aren't so good I stick to the usual daily shower routine but when things are great I throw a few bubbly baths in the works for an extra feel good treat.

I don't normally noticed it's happened until I start taking baths again but lets put it this way there's not been too many baths in the last few weeks. Good news is I'm pleased to report I'm back on form!

Just like all of us, I have my demons and sadly sometimes they get in the way of the things I love and usually blogging and social media are the first thing to take a hit.

So I want to give a big big apology and say I'm back and looking forward to blogging again. I'm really working on not letting things get to me and as time goes on I know I'm improving, maybe one day I'll share my story too if it'll help someone else, but for now I hope you can forgive me and I promise I'm back.

I may disappear from time to time but I'm really trying to get on top of things and as I've got a lot coming up I really want to share I'm hoping I can get away from long blogging breaks because deep down blogging helps so much!

Thanks for being so lovely & patient hope you come back soon so we can all catch up.

Until next time!
